UNTOLD
The UNTOLD wristband: how the money works, and how to get yours back
UNTOLD is completely cashless, which catches out almost everybody on their first night. Here is how topping up worked in 2026, and the three places you could get your unspent money back.
The single most common mistake at UNTOLD is arriving with a wallet full of cash and assuming it will buy a drink. It will not. The festival is completely cashless. Every purchase inside comes off your wristband, and if there is nothing on the wristband, there is nothing to buy with.
How you put money on it
Two ways, and only one of them is comfortable.
Online, before you go. You load your account and the balance is on your wristband when you arrive. This is the one to use. It costs the same and it skips the part where you stand in a queue on the first night while your friends are already inside.
At a Credit Point, once you are in. These take cash and card, and the card side accepts Mastercard, Visa or Amex in any currency, which matters if you flew in and never changed money. The queue at a Credit Point is worst in the first two hours after the gates open, for the obvious reason.
A top up stays valid for the whole event, so money loaded on Thursday still spends on Sunday. You do not have to reload every day.
Getting the leftover money back
This is the part most people never do, and it is real money left behind at the end of every edition. In 2026 there were three ways to ask for the unspent balance:
- at any Credit Point on your way out
- at the Resolution Point during the festival
- on the Monday after, at the Ticketing Point near the Hungarian Opera, between 07:00 and 17:00
That Monday window is the safety net for anybody who leaves on the last night without thinking about it, and it is worth writing down before you go, because the morning after the fourth night is not when you will be researching refund policies.
The practical version
Load the wristband online before you travel, with a bit more than you think you need so you are never queueing at midnight. Then get the rest back on the way out, or on Monday morning if you forget.
What we do not know yet about next year
Nothing about the 2027 edition is confirmed at the time of writing, including whether these rules stay the same. They usually do in shape, but the details move. We keep the UNTOLD 2027 page updated as the festival announces things, and everything on it carries the date it became true.
